昨年2021年に”第2章”というタイトルで、尾花友久が空間全体で表現する展示を開催しました。

薪窯で焼成した白いやきものに、会場で自らペインティングを施すという表現は、陶の展示としてはかつてない試みでした。

そして今年2022年、彼は海を渡りロサンゼルスのギャラリーにて同内容の展示を無事に成功させました。

続く第3章は尾花友久をより深く理解すべく、2010年〜2021年に渡る彼の作品を順々に遡りどのような過程を経て今の表現があるのか紐解いていきます。

年月の中で極めれば極めるほど、引き算されシンプルになっていく尾花友久の作品を約10年の制作期間から厳選しご覧頂く貴重な機会です。

また本個展開催に合わせ作品集「尾花友久-やきもの-」を出版する運びとなりました。

作品と作家を理解する道しるべになればと考えています。

未来の為に過去を知る展示になる事を願っています。

As titled “Chapter 2”, we have held Obana’s exhibition at wad+ gallery in 2021. The room was filled with his pure-white woodfired pottery pieces, and surprisingly he performed live painting on them which is absolutely unusual and unique for pottery exhibitions.

Furthermore, he brought the Chapter 2 exhibition at Nonaka Hill Gallery in Los Angeles this year and made it successful.

In order for us to get a hold of the Tomohisa Obana’s creation, our next “chapter” will be looking at the past. By following his archive pieces from 2010 through 2021, we would like to invite everybody to unravel how his creative process evolved into what it is today.

The more his artistic techniques get sharpened, the more his creation becomes simple and sophisticated. It will definitely be the greatest opportunity to experience the works of his 10 years which we proudly selected in an appropriate manner.

We will also be publishing his portfolio, “Obana Tomohisa -Yakimono-“, as we organized the “Chapter 3” exhibition.

By looking at his past in it,  we sincerely hope you can interpret and feel comfortable to the world of Tomohisa Obana and foresee his further creations.
